In 1929, our great-grandparents homesteaded ​Bar Open AK Ranch​ in Colorado’s East Beaver Valley.

A decade ago, our family partnered with the Rathke family, heirs to ​Elk Glade Ranch founded in 1888, in order to expand protection of the valley to 2,500 acres.

Today, the ranch and its forests, streams, horses, and cattle are protected from development through a land trust.
